I don't think Jim Murray would choose a bottling for WWotY that he has not tasted in his tasting-lab. When I gave him a taste of an Arran for the Norwegian market, he asked me to send a sample to his tasting lab. I don't think he do tasting notes on festivals or tastings. I don't think he has just tasted the "special Uigeadail" in Canada, and if so, I think he has tasted it in the same way that he has tasted all the other 3800 whiskies in the bible.

Fair enough Lars, but there still seems to be a lot of confusion as to whether or not the 'special Uigeadail' actually exists.

I don't think the "special Uigeadail exists, but I think Jim Murray has tasted a cask sample, and that's why it's difficult to find that special bottling.

This may be almost a year later, but I wanted to give a link to my "Canadian" or "BC" Uigeadail page. This is what has been pieced together with the help of those in Vancouver that tasted from the actual bottle that Jim Murray did.

Take it for what it is...fact, fiction or folly!

Cheers!!!

I hadn't realised that the Ugy has been repackaged in line with corry/super boxes.

I need to get back into my whiskies.

Forgive the potentially stupid question but how does one determine the batch, etc?

I acquired a bottle a week or so ago and just tried it last night. All I can say is YOOOOOWWZZAAAAA !!!! There is nothing subtle about that whisky even when cut with water.

My wife and I agreed it will be for very special occasions and we likely will not purchase another bottle even if they are ever again available. Still, I am grateful I was able to experience the dram(s).

Forgive the potentially stupid question but
Not stupid at all, the batch numbers are particularly well hidden on Ardbeg. They're printed in black about 1cm from the bottom of the bottle (you might need to hold it up to the light to spot it) An example would be: L7 059 01:04 4ML (bottled on the 59h day of 2007).

Hi G_M ,
There's a bottling line code on the bottle , usually on the back below the rear label .
It consists of....
A Year - e.g. L9
A Day - e.g. 123
Time - e.g. 09:30
A Line No. - e.g. 4ML
For more details check out Tims excellent ardbegproject site.

Looks to be a 2008, 83rd day bottling that arrived in New Hampshire in October of 2009?

There is an L7 325 Uigeadail up on whiskyauction.com right now. Though many people see it as only rumoured to be the WOTY, I think we've put together some compelling evidence to show this is the batch.

Hopefully, someone that knows about it will buy it and give an opinion.

Haha...I haven't picked up the 2009 or 2010 Bibles. It really says that, eh? Funny stuff!
