A warm welcome from Iain Henderson
MANAGER OF LAPHROAIG DISTILLERY

As the Keeper of Laphroaig I would like to take this opportunity to wish all our customers and Friends a very Happy Christmas and hope that you will all join me in a dram of Good Christmas Cheer during the festive period.

This summer no fewer than 745 registered Friends of Laphroaig have taken the 'road to Islay', to see the distillery, the plot of land, and of course to collect their rent. As we draw towards Christmas we have had nearly 5,000 visitors round the distillery making this is one of our busiest years ever, and one for the record books as far as we are concerned.

To discover what makes our malt so distinctive view our tasting notes. We welcome your opinions so please leave your comments at our visitors page.

To find out exactly how the world's most characterful single malt is made, read the fascinating story of Bessie Williamson back in 1954, the first woman to own and operate a single malt distillery. Take a privileged peek inside her diary.

LATEST NEWS FROM THE DISTILLERY

I am proud to announce that we have launched Original Cask Strength Laphroaig at 57.3%. It is available in all good whisky shops, and of course here at the distillery for just £29.99. The cask strength differs from the normal 40% bottling in the fact that it has not been chill-filtered, but barrier filtered. This process does not change the flavour characteristics in any way and I would suggest that it's the closest you will get to sampling this distinctive malt at its source.

Another recent release in the shops has been the half bottle of the standard Laphroaig 10 year old. At around £13 it's a great introduction for a friend to the Laphroaig family. .

This summer we have been selling the remainder of the Ardbeg 10 year old, the one with the large Celtic 'A' which is the trademark of the real distillery bottling. To complete the exercise, we will now have an Ardbeg 30 year old for sale at the distillery, in an attractive wooden box as a special presentation pack. This is a one-off since there are only 29 casks. The price of the gift box is £100 a bottle.

We hope you enjoy your visit and come and see us often.
